Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe

(3 Ratings)
The decorative and the beautiful

Hamburg's main centre for art, applied art and design — from keyboard instruments and carpets to sculptures, figurines and tiles — with collections from Europe, the Middle and the Far East, from the Ancient World to the present day. Spiegel magazine's trippy candy-coloured 1969 canteen by Danish designer Verner Panton (1926-88) was installed here when Spiegel moved offices in 2011. 'Kunst und Gewerbe' translates as 'Arts and Crafts'
