Playing for sex
A themed bar for young men who've grown up fetishising 'straight man' sports gear, Sportplatz was opened in 2010 by known gay local entrepeneur and theatre impressario Corny Littmann, who'd previously served as president of the St Pauli football club. Just off the Reeperbahn in the area's signature gay street, the bar is decorated in gymnasium style and sports a frisky basement darkroom with slings and things, and is adjecent to Littmann's earlier creation WunderBar [see entry]. Closed in September 2012, with the space planned for just special events.
