Successfully reinventing a slaughterhouse/butcher shop in the shadow of the Rathaus, Café Paris arrived on the scene in February 2000, the beauty of its 1882 host restored and intact and guaranteeing it a special place among the city's eateries. An all-day café/bistro/restaurant, it pays homage to the French repertoire — from bouillabaisse to steak-frites — and prepares other classic Europeran dishes, including English and Italian takes on breakfast. The interior is striking, but there's an imperfect something-or-other about the atmosphere. A fine breakfast option.
