Worn, battered, and not at all beautiful, this corner former carpet shop sits unprepossessingly at the bottom of the Lange Reihe, just opposite Cafe Gnosa [see entry] but at the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of aesthetics and gay sensibility. The reassuringly (suspiciously?) cheap food items offer some nice surprises, including a crispy and tasty schnitzel, and recently there've been attempts to modernise the menu. Breakfasts too. And football. Given its tavern atmosphere, it's no surprise that beer is a big thing here, as is the pull of televised sports games for straight-seeming male locals. Outoor tables, including views of the gay businesses just opposite.
