Very gay-central hotel
Part of the Austrian ARCOTEL chain, this 271-room hotel is subtitled 'Rubin', which means 'ruby' in German, thus the preponderence of deep reds and whites, including massive headboards signifying the sun rising and setting over Hamburg. For a design-conscious hotel, this might strike some as a bit spartan and dry (though there are plush themed rooms), but the location — a five-minute walk from the Lange Reihe, a seven-minute stroll from the Hauptbahnhof (central train station) and a mere crawl from S.L.U.T. [see entry], visible from rooms overlooking Danziger Straße — is a major plus. Includes two restaurants, including the Austrian/German-themed Wiener Kaffee. The breakfast buffet is big enough but does not necessarily register as one of the hotel's strengths. Opened October 2007. U-Bahn: Lohmühlenstraße.

      Hates it

Hotel is nice. Rooms were comfortable. Good location with lots of places to eat nearby. Not a far walk from the train station. Only problem I had was I chose this hotel over others because of the free wifi, it wasn't working and I went to the front desk to inquire about it and was kind of rudely told there was nothing they could do. Front desk just seem to not care and seemed bothered when I asked. Everything else was good. Breakfast was nice also.
