Park Hyatt

Distinguished by its impeccable service, warm cherry wood interior and advantageous location, this particular Park Hyatt actually gives 'corporate' a good name. The hotel is set in the Levantehaus — a 1912 warehouse whose 1990s reinvention spawned shops, restaurants and, from April 1998, this 252-room Hyatt, which also includes 32 extended-stay apartments, a bar, restaurant and elegant and atmospherically lit basement gym and spa facilities. The Hyatt is a tasteful but rather sexy hotel tucked away around the corner from the Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) while brushing up against the main shopping drag Möncekbergstraße. Most crucially perhaps is that it's just an eight-minute walk from the Lange Reihe and a very doable crawl home from any of the bars in St Georg. You don't get much better than this, and not quite as exorbitant as you'd imagine.
